And yes, the scale of the project has been reduced once again. The sole focus is the elevated passenger waiting area, no more bridge/walkway.
As of yesterday, this structure would completely replace the existing roundabout. The utilization of the structure remains the same, connection to the underground, ground level exit, elevated waiting area.
Some sort of canopy will be developed for the ground plane as passengers exit.
Instead of simply having a static waiting area, I am trying to carry over the idea from the walkway and incorporate the kinematic quality of expansion and contraction into the waiting area based on the amount of people. Below is a simple sketch of the basic idea. I have no idea how this will work. Currently researching and will have to decide if this is a viable option.
As you can somewhat see below, the triangulated structure will be supported by a primary structure that is built up from the underground level. The stairs will also be supported by the same primary structure.
I am trying to keep the triangulated frame as transparent as possible to make it seem the waiting platform is "floating". Everything will be contained in the triangulated structure and all necessary space will be accounted for the expansion and contraction of the platform.
2 BIG PROBLEMS:
one_the triangulated structure maybe too complicated; too many different connections. It will most likely need to be simplified.
two_the kinematic waiting platform expansion and contraction headache... oh dear...
